After a little break in shooting (or at least the longest we’re likely to get in August…) we had the pleasure of shooting Kristin & Gordon’s engagement session yesterday. Hard to take a bad picture of these two, and there were just great pockets of light all over the place. Anyhoo – we had a blast shooting, and even though I’m posting ten photos, we could have easily come up with another ten that are killer and blog-worthy, too. Really looking forward to shooting their wedding at the Ritz next year!
We love using this kind of light/shadow play – I think this was in front of the fire station or something…

They both had that lifestyle fashion model ease about them… of course, the nice light doesn’t hurt, either

One of those funky little pockets of light we were talking about – this was by a service door leading to the dumpsters behind a restaurant – never know where you’ll find that killer light!

Chenin saw this little visual pun, and I completely missed it until we were looking through the photos last night… I was like “so THAT’s what you were shooting!” That’s why having two photographers is so beneficial – shots like this would otherwise go unnoticed. It’s twice the fun! FWIW, the shots on our blog are almost always about 50/50 Chenin’s / mine

Funky garage door

Finally, a little painting with light in front of the gate leading to Gordon’s apartment. Really digging the technique, and props again to JMC for being passionate about it – it’s a great tool to have in the photographer’s box. FWIW, John’s going to be covering how to do this at the ANTI-WORKSHOP this November, which is currently sold out.
